A question I’ve frequently been asked when I express my interest in sports journalism has been, “Why sports?” Not so much as in, what do you like about sports? but more, don’t you think you could accomplish more? The perception seems to be that I’m selling myself short or that sports are “meaningless” in the grand scheme of things. I’ve always known the answer to this question but typically refuse to dignify the question with the answer. Unfortunately, within the last week, it’s hit me harder than I hoped it ever would.

I’ve been out of commission for awhile as I’ve been campaigning for Great Britain to field a baseball team for the World Baseball Classic. It’s been a stressful, intense but ultimately futile process as the only players put forth were myself and “Tiger” Tim Henman.

I would like to not apologize for the lack of updates. Apologies are something I do not do without lighting myself on fire and I do not have a lighter. We’ve got some pretty exciting stuff planned for the radio in the next few months and I’ll have something posted for you on Friday or Saturday.

Georgia finally won their first SEC basketball game this Saturday against Florida. If that’s the only win we get for the rest of the season, I’ll be happy. That was unbelievably satisfying.

You’d think during a fantastic sports weekend I might find a place somewhere in my heart to write a blog. Unfortunately, when my weekend wasn’t filled with thoughts of Bob Knight, the Aussie Open Final or the Superbowl, I had a massive headache. I drank waayyyyy too much Kool-Aid and Gatorade (Red) and the electrolytes really messed with my system.

Today started out a pretty good day. I had a ridiculously productive workout, my eggs were cooked to perfection at East Campus and the SportsCenter top 10 plays made me very happy. Lets recap.
