I’m going to be real with you guys. Its been YEARS since I’ve posted on Same Page Sports. Its been YEARS since anyone has posted here. But I have a theory regarding the Ryan Braun case that I’m very very curious about. Hopefully someone will crap on this theory right away and render it useless.
In short:
- Braun knows there’s a good chance he will test positive
- Stalls for time (Says he can’t pee, needs to drink some water, etc)
- Convinces (read:bribes) tester (who lives in WI and might even be a Brewers fan) to mess up chain of custody by taking test home and shipping it on Monday.
- When test comes back positive, Braun immediately appeals and offers to take another test.
Barry Bonds’ supplier Victor Conte had this to say: what they’re doing is using fast-acting testosterone - creams, gels, orals, patches - and they clear so quickly, sometimes in a matter of hours. … They could conceivably, after a game, use testosterone to help with tissue repair and healing and recovery and by the time they’d show up at the park the next day, their PE (progesterone/estradiol) ratio would be normal. I always knew there was this giant loophole that you could drive a Mack truck through.
If Braun was taking this type of testosterone and knew he was dead in the water and that it hadn’t cleared yet, could he have convinced the tester to disregard the chain of custody?
