1. I was disappointed the Gator fans didn’t do the S-E-C!! chant after their national championship win over Oklahoma. LSU did it last year. ‘Bama did it against Clemson. By the way, that’s 3 in a row for the SEC. Might I add the SEC is 5-0 in BCS national championship games. Do Work.
2. I need to clarify a couple of things. There is basically an unwritten rule in the BCS era that a mid-major conference will not get in the national championship game. So don’t tell me that it’s not fair they didn’t make it. I don’t care. Play by the “rules”. I was simply offering a solution to help out college football and the Utes under this system. If there were a playoff, I’m not so sure Utah would join the Pac-10 because they probably have a better shot at making it in the Mountain West. But if all things remain equal, it’s a pretty decent solution. Also, the only reason I chose the Big Ten over the Big East is because West Virginia has been winning BCS games consistently while the Big Ten has been flopping, but you could argue either way.
Second, I think Florida will be preseason number 1. The conspiracy is just a pretty interesting thought and I wanted to write it sooner rather than later. I should note that my boy Hans (who should DEFINITELY have his own blog but prefers to read my thoughts and criticize whatever I have to say) basically invalidated the theory when he pointed out that Auburn went 13-0, didn’t get a title shot and weren’t preseason number 1 the following year. Like I said, conspiracy theory. You always take those with a grain of salt.
3. Tim Hix emailed me. It wasn’t even a reply email as I was going to email him today. Not only that, he got me into the Tennessee game tomorrow. Huge.
4. Since Tebow beat Bradford, does this mean Bradford would be the 4th best QB in the Big XII?
5. As the sports director, I get all kinds of email from sports and media outlets. I just one such email from Athlon Sports bragging that they correctly predicted Florida to win the national championship before the season. The email proceeded to note that they had now correctly predicted TWO of the last FIVE in the preseason. Is that really something worth bragging about?
