A new age is rapidly approaching in today’s game of baseball: rookies are taking over. For several teams – the Braves and the Marlins being the main examples – the farm system has always been an intricate part of success. However, you know it’s becoming a new era when the Yankees and Red Sox start hopping on board and invest heavily in scouting and developing young talent. In honor of this new era in major league baseball,
I will attempt to inform you of several rookies who should make an impact on your team in the near future over the course of this season.

The Mets are going to win the East. As an American League fan, I fear Johan Santana. The National League should be shaking in their cleats. As baseball season rapidly approaches, (I don’t count those games in
The Red Sox are going to come out on top in this division. It’s going to be a dogfight all the way through this season and the only reason I’m giving the edge to the scum of the earth is because the Yankees will have three of their starting pitchers on innings limits*: Joba Chamberlain, Ian Kennedy and Phil Hughes. What’s going to happen in September if (when) one or two of them hit the limit? Is Kei Igawa going to pitch? (For those of you who are unaware of Kei Igawa, here’s a tidbit of information that will clue you in on all you need to know: he pitches in sunglasses.)
