I wish I was writing this blog 6 months ago when Brett Favre was traded to the Jets. I was the only person I am aware of that was against the trade. I could have written a magnificent piece and would now be hailed as the second Nostradamos (better yet, I’d just be called Yestradamus — wait till the last commercial).
Now ESPN’s having a field day with the Favre saga (again) here and here.
Greeeaaat. You may notice the poll on the side of this website asking if the Packers should Fire GM Ted Thompson. The question now, if not at the time of the trade, should be whether to fire Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum. His moves have brought us Eric Mangini (who I think should still have a job but according to Tannenbaum, hasn’t lived up to expectations — talk about ironic) a 39 year old quarterback who couldn’t finish a season and led the league in interceptions (adding to his NFL record), traded away Chad Pennington (now before you sass me about my man crush on the guy, he made the playoffs and had the second highest passer rating this season) and has NO quarterback for next season with very little chance at drafting either of the top two picks, Sam Bradford or Matt Stafford. Those are all franchise crippling moves.
Tannenbaum was the one who splurged on aging free agents. How is it Mangini’s fault that Kris Jenkins and Brett Favre were too old to finish a season? It is extremely weak of the Jets managment to shoulder the blame on Mangini. Is it any wonder why Bill Cowher had zero interest in being with the Jets? Why would he want to step into this messy situation with two unstable, insequre bosses?
Here’s another great piece on the Jets crisis.
It’s going to be a rough few seasons to be a Jets fan. But when was the last time it wasn’t?
Sorry to be so serious but Bruce Willis just sacrificed himself in Armageddon. Hardly my fault.
