The ceremonial first pitch between the Yankees and Red Sox will not take place at Yankee Stadium when the two battle it out in the
Dr. Garrett Reisman will throw out the first pitch from an International Space Station which will mark the first ceremonial first pitch thrown from space in Yankee Stadium history.
Reisman, a lifetime Yankee fan, carried aboard Yankee Stadium dirt, a Yankee banner and a Yankee hat autographed by George Steinbrenner in order to help accomplish this task.
The game and pitch will take place April 16th when the teams face off in a two-game series.
This story was reported just after the ridiculous news that a Red Sox jersey was buried inside the new Yankee Stadium. One of the construction workers, a Red Sox fan, lay down a David Ortiz jersey inside the foundations of the new Stadium in an attempt to curse the Yankees.
Initially, the Yankees brass denied any reports of such a burial and even called out the newspaper reporting the details, reminding the New York Post that, “April Fools day was ten days ago!”
It was then discovered that such a rumor may be factual, and the Yankees began a search eventually leading to the discovery of a jersey.
In the attempt to curse the Yankees it appears the fan may have incidentally cursed David Ortiz who currently possesses a .070 batting average.
